Fix-It Friday #63 – Keli Hoskins’s Contribution
I thought this was such a beautiful image from the get-go, so I didn’t change much about it. To be honest, I loved the image so much, I had a little fun and used tones that I currently adore, so it might not be a “technically correct” fix as far as fixing exposure or whatever, but I like how it turned out.
Original Image …
Using Lightroom
I cropped it a little bit so we could see more of the girls while also keeping that beautiful fence intact.
Then, I applied one of my own presets to give the girls’ skin a little more warm tones while toning down the background. Without giving away my secret formula, I use tan/gold highlights and purple shadows.
I also bumped up the recovery 100% to keep the background details (okay, I’m a sucker for bokeh, and that tree bokeh was too fabulous to ignore!)
Also bumped up brightness and contrast and clarity to really make them pop out of the gorgeous background.
After Lightroom …
Using Photoshop Elements 5.0
I really liked the post-Lightroom image, but I decided to go ahead and add a little texture just for fun. Totally not necessary … but this week was all about having fun for me.
Since I already liked the tones so much, I used a black and white texture – that way, you can add texture without changing any of your image tones.
I didn’t want to texturize the girls too much, so I decided to use Senorita from Florabella Textures – Set II, and then I still erased it over their skin and dresses.
I also added a brightness/contrast level adjustment layer to pop those beautiful girls out from the background just a wee bit more – +10 Brightness, +15 Contrast.
Keli is mama to a beautiful girl with another on the way and blogs about her life in suburbia {almost} daily at Kidnapped by Suburbia – you can also find her chatting about life in 140 characters or less on Twitter and uploading life and love-filled photos on Flickr.
