Guest Photographer Judge Interview

We had the pleasure of meeting this week’s Guest Photographer Judge couple at HER Photography Conference…as a matter of fact, they were the innovative people that organized the conference and inspired many female photographers along the way!

Ben and Laura Harrison from Harrison Studio are amazing wedding photographers who are wonderful at capturing a poignant lifestyle flair in their images. We absolutely adored getting to know them better when we spoke at their conference and are thrilled to welcome them as our Guest Photographer Judges this week.

Hey there! We are Ben and Laura Harrison, a husband and wife team of photographers and entrepreneurs based in Grand Rapids, MI. We are passionate about our family and friends, starting businesses and our two crazy cats! We photographed our first wedding together in 2005, and since then we’ve been on this crazy journey together and we’ve never looked back. We have been blessed to have our photography take us across the United States as well as international locales as distant as Thailand. In 2011, we photographed our first celebrity wedding which was featured in US Weekly and we couldn’t have been happier to see our images in a national publication! We are blessed to have a career we love and are passionate about and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!

I couldn’t NOT enter this week, since Caden’s open heart surgery at 5 days old, he has the most special, beautiful heart – whether or not he wins! :-)

#251 – It was my first child photography session and I brought along a craft I had just finished the day before. The child took her curiosity to it and the photos with it turned out well. I’m not much a “prop” photographer but after that it couldn’t hurt to have a few trinkets added to my repertoire for children photography. :-)

#38… I love this ‘kid’s in the kitchen’ heart theme. And how you can tell this kiddo is just so excited to be cooking with mom. I wish I had taken this picture! Love it!

#245… I’m such a sucker for pictures of kiddos giggling. She is just down right cute. I love how the picture is in her natural setting and makes you smile right when you see her laugh.

#152… how precious she is! I love the lighting behind her and how you were able to catch those long eye lashes. Your little Sarah Beth is adorable!

#247… I love how you captured that moment! I can hear him laughing from just looking at the picture! The black and white definitely was a great choice. Gives the picture a whole other texture and feeling you would not have in color.
