Photo Challenge Winners | A Touch of Whimsy

This week was magical! It made us sigh with contentment to see all the amazing ways that “whimsy” was interpreted in our entries. And we had more than a few escaped giggles from the funny interpretations of whimsical as well. All we can say is, we have a creative group of photographers here at I Heart Faces!

This week’s Guest Photographer Judge, Barb Uil from JinkyArt, said of our winning photo by Jean Smith : It’s the way it’s framed. Just a touch, a whisper of whimsy. A sweet delicious insight into this special magical moment.. Her composition on this photograph is just perfect, framing is everything. Those curtians really draw us in…… I looked at this photograph and instantly said out-loud “oooh I just LOVE that”…. Not over the top, just simple. The way mum is holding the child in the air adds to that magic. You can almost feel the breeze on your face as you look at this photograph. You can hear the giggles. The post processing is gentle and wispy………. fabulous!

2nd Place: Lindy Christopher

There is so much about this photograph that draws me in : The way Lindy has captured her subject in absolute joy – emphasised by the fact that she has picked a frame where there is movement in the dress, and her hair. Her color palette is just perfect for whimsy, and the framing of branches just adds to that magic. Classic composition keeps it simple and draws us right to the subject. Whats not to love about this photograph?
