Photo Challenge Winners |Let’s Hear It For The Boys!

1st Place: Maureen Wilson

We chose to celebrate the men and boys in our lives this week in honor of Father’s Day.  We truly enjoyed seeing all the love and devotion from all the fathers and the fun and rambunctiousness from our handsome boys!

This week’s Guest Photographer Judge, Sarah Robertson, said of the winning photo by Maureen Wilson: This image just seemed to stand out as an all-encompassing ODE TO BOYS! The candid, free-spirited run, their expressions of excitement and the the sticks, fashioned as weapons– all scream BOY. I love how this image tells a story all by itself. I can see the unique personalities of all four boys just in the expressions on their faces. I also love the frozen in time nature of this image. Their essence at this young age of innocence, is literally frozen (mid-air even!) and it becomes a distilled moment, beautifully captured forever. Nicely done, Maureen!

2nd Place: Dion Seneca

I couldn’t stop looking at this image. The light is perfect, the dust swirling is mesmerizing and the timing of mid-air jump by the catcher as the runner slides– is perfectly captured! My #2 son played little league for the first time this year and my family spent many Saturdays this spring at the ball field. I have so much respect for photographers who do this well! And nothing says “boys” like living and breathing baseball.

3rd Place: Ashley Warren

This one stood out to me because I am a sucker for gorgeous, natural light! The back-lighting here is yummy and the subjects just enhance it more! I love the bare chests, the capes and masks, the perfectly synced mid-air jump, the angle that implies movement and the wide comp. All little boys should pretend to be super-heroes and then grow up to be just that!
