  • Please remember that a person needs to be in your photo entry if you’d like to be considered as a winner (for this week only, a face does not have to be clearly showing!)

# 505 Walk @ the Lake
This is my first time entering any of my photography into any type of contest!

I am forcing myself to put myself out there more and hopefully by the time my husband is done with his apprenticeship program in 2 years, I’ll have a body of work and a client base and can move in to photography full time and quit my desk job. Say a Prayer that happens!

I Heart Faces is a fabulous place for me to get lost in and have gained a lot of great info and tips! Thank You.

My from a distance picture was taken at White Sands, New Mexico. We had just moved to New Mexico from the cold, cold midwest the day before. Visiting White Sands was like stepping into a dream of pure white, sparkly, warm, rippled sand that went on forever , accented by the clearest blue skies you can imagine. We completely lost ourselves that day. The picture is of my two sons about to slide down a dune and my husband catching up to them. If you’ve never been to White Sands, you NEED to go!

#224 – Beyond the Reef

We live on a tiny (44 sq mi) island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Most of the time it’s great. This was our first journey out past the barrier the reef creates in the lagoon. It was just a snapshot that speaks volumes about our underwater world.

This is the first photo challenge I have entered…
I couldn’t resist it when I saw the title: From a Distance
My brother and sister are spending holidays in New Zealand, while I live in Ireland, and make the most of his beautiful little country!
I thought I should add their very beautiful picture (in which they had to run, as there was no people around to take it for them!) because it just shows a true Kiwi Beauty!
I am not a photographer, but I just love capturing little bits of life!

God bless

Dance at Sunset

This is the very first photo contest I have been in. I honestly love it, the theme was great, I love the way everything is set up. It was so easy to use. Plus, it gave me a chance to see other peoples perspective and for them to give you feedback. With this weeks theme being “From a Distance”. I choose a picture of my niece, the photo was taken on easter. We had gone on a shoot, out of 200 photos from this session, this was the very last one. She was just messing around dancing, and who knew it would be such a beautiful photo. When I saw the theme, I instantly knew what photo to use. Thanks I Heart Faces for holding these challenges every week. I will be participating every week from now on. 🙂

We take our daughter out pretty much every night to ride her bike (she just learned to ride without training wheels!) at this church parking lot. In this scene, she is done riding and I asked my husband to show the kiddos his skills on the bike 😀

Great theme this week … there were so many possibilities, but I finally settled on one, and just in time! Now, I’m going to enjoy looking through all these entries “from a distance”! 🙂 Have a great day everyone, and stay cool! 🙂

My shot is of my daughters on a walk around a lake near our house. We’ve lived here for a year now and this was the first time we walked around the lake. We’ll be back many more times for sure!

Love this blog! Looking forward to seeing the winner!

Amy B. June 7, 2011

I truly enjoy having a new challenge each week–to see what fresh and fun images I can come up with! This week’s entry for me was a just-so-happen photo, never really thought anything about it until I saw the theme for this week! Keep up the great work!

Amber June 7, 2011

This is my first time to do this, not sure if I did everything right but I noticed that the same thumbnail was posted twice! Eeeek, how can I delete Love # 509

Angelia Sims Hardy June 7, 2011

Love the theme this week. All the entries are so fun and unique. I don’t envy you having to pick winners. The settings on some of these photos are gorgeous!

Adela June 7, 2011

My entry is from this past weekend visiting the family ranch with my ex-husband and beautiful daughter. New Beginnings. The trip was so wonderful that we made a decision to reconcile our family unit. Through GOD all things are possible. Thank you for allowing me to share my photo – I thought it represented all that I feel right now…rays of sweet sunshine beaming down on us.

GOD is good | love

PS So many stunning entries, good luck to everyone!

Distance & Relationship – It is the family in the distance, and the relationship to their pup in the foreground, that makes me “heart” this image. Thanks for the opportunity to revisit and reflect on our work:

Mindee Green June 7, 2011

this weeks entry I enterd a picture of my husband that I took for a poster for our Team we have.. It’s called the flames of fire we do performances with swords and brick breaking and bible teaching to help raise funds to feed hungry kids.

Jen Husz June 7, 2011

I just re-submitted my photo (right now # 491) because I had two thumbnails before (due to a wrong link with my first) and the one that worked got deleted; the one that doesn’t work is still there. So, this one should work and you can delete “Intention” at #410 right now. Thanks so much. I should have the hang of this really well by next week with all the practice 🙂

Jessie Lucas June 7, 2011

My shot this week is of my family fishing. I took it from my neighbors dock. It is a moment that I am glad I captured even if it is snap shotish. Thanks for hosting each week. I love these challenges!

Jessica June 7, 2011

Great theme!! Thanks for your work. It’s great to participate in this type of challenge!

Jenny June 7, 2011

I changed my picture but couldn’t delete the original link – so you have me linked twice. Please use 489 not 488. So sorry!

Diana June 7, 2011

Hi everyone from New Zealand,
I’m excited to share my first entry, ‘Running Free’, portraying two of my favourite things – my three youngest boys and the beauty of the sea coast of my country. Come and take a cyber visit!

Neets Crane June 7, 2011

I’m new here. I’ll try to post something.

Photo Challenge | From a Distance :: #photography

Caroline (Frogmum) June 7, 2011

I can’t get my linky to show up??? I’ve tried twice. I don’t usually have a problem, but here’s the link – JUST IN CASE it doesn’t turn up.

Marla June 7, 2011

My entry (#429) is of my oldest daughter making the life-changing decision of whether or not she wants to go down the biggest slide she has ever seen. It’s the very colorful and musical slide at the City Museum in St. Louis.

Jovana June 7, 2011

This is my first contest and I am enjoying it. I just went through a lot of entries that were submitted this week and I am impressed. There are so many talented photographers with so many styles. Each has to offer something different and unique.

For this week’s theme, I think wedding is a great event to capture those moments from distance because we want to give our clients space to enjoy themselves and feel a little bit of that sweet privacy. There are many great photos like that here and I really like them a lot.

On top of my list are also hot air balloon picture, snorkeling, and I have so many wedding ones that I can’t decide which one is a favorite.

My picture is #339 and it is of a friend on top of a hill looking at the beautiful blue sky. She was posing before this shot and when I told her I needed to adjust my camera, she just kept looking up so I quickly adjusted my setting and snapped this photo. I call it “away from earth and into the sky”. We are so concerned about what’s going on around us on the ground, we forget to look up and enjoy the skies. 🙂 I hope you like the photo and I am looking forward to submitting more of my work here in the future.

Kathryn June 7, 2011

I took this picture ( #424) of my daughter dancing in my parents’ field. She had on her fun skirt, her rain boots, and french tank so she thought she was snazzy! She was just singing and dancing and I couldn’t resist taking pictures! I love this one as it looks like she is an Irish step dancer!

Jen Husz June 7, 2011

This is my first entry. I entered it incorrectly (#416 right now) but the second time was the charm (#417 at the moment). I took this photo over 2 years ago but the photos I took that day of my children running around in the field and discovering and examining dandelions are some of my most cherished–the light was beautiful, and my daughter just was her curious, attentive, 2-year old self, totally unaware of the camera…how much better does it get?

Amber June 7, 2011

My picture is #413 Titled “The View”. I caught our dog looking over the hill just staring off into the distance and just had to grab the camera and take a picture!

Margaret Hamilton June 7, 2011

Maggie asked me to dress her up and ‘do chalk, Meme’ for when Mommy comes home with her new baby brother, Sam.

Jenny @ The Southern Institute June 7, 2011

This was a fun challenge… I entered an iphone pic, is that okay? I have so many that I just love. SO many great entries this week, as usual!

Jen June 7, 2011

Sorry mine posted twice, I was having issues with my Internet connection and now I can’t figure out how to remove it. 🙂

My entry t was taken this weekend at a beautiful wedding in Traverse City, Michigan. We took some pictures on the dock and to be honest, the sun was a bit harsh at the moment and I was contemplating my next move to work with the light. I told them to head to the end and just be. Be in love. I hung back to survey the scene and then I saw it. The beautiful symmetry of the two towering masts. Both directly pointing down and highlighting the two perfectly. And then. They kissed. And I snapped. And then I did a giddy little dance that I sometimes do when I get a shot that I. just. love. Sometimes the distance puts it all back in perspective!
~jen #406 (and #407 at the moment!) 🙂

Ronda Bragg June 7, 2011

A couple that I was taking pictures of heading towards my actual location (old abandoned church on hill). They looked soo cute walking up there while she was holding her shoes and holding hands that I had to capture that moment.
