Photo Challenge Winners | Anything But A Face!

This week’s theme really was a nice change from our norm…we loved the idea of having a challenge that could include a face but focused on something other than the face. It was fun and a great opportunity to think outside the box a little bit.  As always, we enjoyed browsing through all of the entries and getting to see into your creativity…our community is full of wonderful ideas!

We knew this week’s guest photography judge, Michelle Moore, would have her hands full with the sheer volume of entries this week! We’re so pleased to have so many new faces joining our community! It’s easy to see that we are inspired by MORE than just faces!

1st Place - mi vida contigo

Michelle wrote:  First of all, thank you SO much for inviting me to judge this week’s entries!  I had a lovely time looking through all the images, and there were SO many I truly enjoyed.  It was excruciating cutting down to the top 10.  I looked for images that told a story, that moved me, and executed this in a compositionally pleasing manner.  So many great images, but I wanted the ones that really spoke to me.  Amazing work to the winners, and everyone who entered!

I love this image from mi vida contigo. It tells a story, and I focus straight on the toy, and then the girl. I am curious what she is feeling? Is she upset; happy; what moment did we catch her in? This is why I keep coming back. The rest of the image is blown out and I love it. It keeps my eye focused right on the subject the entire time, and the rest of the image gives me space to breathe and ponder.

2nd Place- cassie martin

There’s a great story here. I love that even though the toes are in focus I keep wandering to the two boys on the right. Their expressions are what tell the story and bring me back to this image. Truly a great capture of a childhood moment.

3rd Place- lifeofmine

The angle of this image caught my eye and I love the colors. I can literally feel the struggle of the little girl trying to escape her crib. Great story-telling, and I keep coming back to this image with a smile.

4th Place-kellie hatcher

Great moment. I just wish I could see a little more of their faces in the mirror! I love the feeling this image evokes of two siblings spending time together in the early morning.

5th Place-tarascott

I adore this image! The water, colors and expression remind me of summer and I this image plays with all of the viewers senses. There is so much movement and that is what makes it so striking to my eye.
