1st Place:

This week was full of so much happiness and love. Hearts was the perfect photo challenge theme to get us in the Valentines spirit a little bit early.

This week’s Guest Photographer Couple, the amazing bobbi+mike duo, have chosen their favorites and we have to say…they totally rock! We also love that they gave a little insight into how they went about choosing their favorites:

Our criteria, in order, for choosing our faves.
1. genuine
2. quirky/unique/original
3. composition
4. processing

Their very favorite photo out of the bunch was submitted by cheng bee and bobbi+mike had this to say about it…

HOLY CUTENESS BATMAN! Someone call Hallmark…. this needs to be on a Valentine’s day card!

The use of the heart is totally natural looking, the chalk…well, I don’t know, is he holding a string to match up with it? I can’t tell, it’s done wonderfully! Not sure if the shiny reflective part drawn on the right side of the balloon is also supposed to be an “i”…for “i love you.” if it was intentional, awesome, if not, well, still awesome! Red background, yellow shirt, blue glasses = HELLOOOO PRIMARY COLORS! The colors combined with his expression give a great pop to this photo! Oh, and I think it may have been taken at my favorite focal length… 35???

Aside from all of this, the most important part here in the connection you must’ve had with the boy in the photo. He’s totally comfortable and engaged in the process. It doesn’t look like you’ve begged him to be in this photo… Not an easy task with young, ornery boys. Sending high fives your way friend!

A++++

Yay!!  Congratulations cheng bee!  :)

2nd Place

Elle Photos
natural. spontaneous. genuine. LOVE IT!

3rd Place

Michelle R
very well executed, clean, cute portrait. Notice that the image on her shirt matches the photo? Genius! Use of props don’t look awkward or forced. Good choice of colors and background to really focus you in on the subject!

4th Place

Alex Kramer
strong artistic composition and the contrast with the deep red really make this an eye catcher! OH how I love anything quirky! Oh, and the subject is hot tamale! BONUS!

5th Place

Grethel Van Epps
nice bokeh! You can see the intensity in her face!

6th Place

Errin Andrus
fun use of the hair. thinking outside of the box and not cheesy!

Get Ready!  Our upcoming photo challenge is Red.

It’s going to be a week of love around here! Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day in a bright, vibrant, fun way while also spreading the word about a fantastic cause… Go Red for Women.

{Please note:  You must have a human face clearly showing in your photo entry…and the color red.}

This week’s challenge is in support of Go Red For Women.

Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an “older man’s disease.” To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women – a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.

Go Red For Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives.

Find out how you can help or give to this cause here.
