We are delighted to welcome Meg Borders as our Guest Photographer Judge this week. Her dreamy style of photography is so lovely and such an inspiration to see.
We love this description she shared of herself: I am a dreamer! Since I was a young girl I’ve always dreamed big and still believe that anything is possible. My castle-in-the-sky perspective shines through in my work, and I think capturing that mood for others is a real motivator for me.
Meg’s Photography Journey
I relish beautiful imagery and the emotional intrigue I experience with inspiring photography. I bought my first DSLR when my oldest daughter was born with intent of capturing every moment in her life as clearly as I could. From the moment I picked up that camera I have been on a journey of freezing life and beauty through my lens.

Meg’s Helpful Hints
- Don’t try and mimic what others do, rather find that mood and processing style that energizes you and ceases to feel like work. Stay true to your artistic instinct and passion. Often times who you are and what you love in life are the best compass to finding success in this industry. If you allow yourself to succumb to conflicting peer and consumer tastes, you’ll constantly struggle to find your center and express yourself authentically.
- What I love most about capturing faces is finding distinctive emotion. Eyes never lie. My primary goal in every shoot is to capture raw emotion and feeling as expressed through the many unique features of my subject
Meg’s Camera Gear
I shoot with a D700 and my 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4. If I had to choose just one lens, I think it would have to be the 85. The bokeh is so creamy.
