We’d like to thank Michael Howard for visiting with us this week as our Guest Photographer Judge. We gain so much inspiration from his images and loved the thoughts that he shared in his interview.
Looking through the “Smirk” entries was so much fun this week (how cute and funny were all those faces?!) Congrats to the following entries that were chosen as Michael’s favorites!
First Place: Sunny Keri
Michael wrote: So many things caught my eye when I saw this photos. First, I love the unusual crop and how it puts so much emphasis on his ‘smirk’ since it’s so close to the top of the frame. Second, I love that it’s shot in direct sunlight instead of backlight or in open shade, which is so common now. Being shot in direct sunlight really helps the warm/red tone of his skin pop off the blue/green background. Third, I love the detail of his necklace because it gives me a little more information about who this man is or what he identifies himself with. I also think it’s interesting how tight the chain is around his neck versus the typical shape of a necklace. I’d highly recommend the photographer to study the work of Alex Webb, who is a fantastic documentary photographer that uses direct light in many creative ways. This photo reminds me of his work to a certain degree! Excellent job!

I think that to receive the mortgage loans from creditors you should have a great reason. However, one time I’ve got a car loan, just because I wanted to buy a building.
