This weeks Fix it Friday is just TOTALLY fun! I love doing Senior sessions, especially when they are up for anything!

Original image:

The original is so easy to work with. It has good “bones”. It is underexposed, and because of the motion of the teenager jumping, he isn’t in perfect focus. But, like I always say, if the photo is a keeper and you love it, work with it! I think this is adorable and fun and unique!

Here is my first fix:

I was a little rushed for time this morning (it snowed and we just HAD to play in it for just a little bit LOL), so I relied on my actions. I used Florabella’s Glam action from her Luxe action collection (one of my VERY favorite sets!!), then I adjusted the levels a little to brighten up his face just a touch. To help with the focus a little, I did used a high pass filter set to 13, and then I reduced the opacity of the level to about 55%. Then I cropped to a horizontal 5×7.

Here is my second fix:

This one, I just added a texture from the Simplicity FREE texture collection (the texture was called 4-OS, and I received it FREE for signing up for their newsletter! Totally AWESOME! I adore their textures and veils! And since I learned from Michelle how to properly apply them, it has CHANGED MY WORLD! :D I need to get their Olde World collection! YUMMY!). After I applied the texture, I reduced it to 60% so the corners were not so dark. But, I LOVED the warmth and dimension it added to the photo!

Be kind! (I’ve had someone ask before why I always end my posts with BE KIND, so here’s the little story. I work with teenage girls at church and teenage girls can be VERY catty. So, years and years ago, I started to use this little phrase when I would hear unkind things being said. And it just stuck. Now, I use it just as a reminder to people to be kind to each other. Life can be hard sometimes and we need to always remember to be kind to people. So there you go….)

My photographic journey began in July in 2007 where I assumed I would purchase the expensive camera, and all my photos would be breathtaking, and I’d make a kajillion dollars. People would throw their wallets at me….I’d be famous and stuff….

I learned very quickly the error in my thinking.

It meant late late nights studying all I could and practice practice PRACTICE!

I’m not the best. I’m not the worst. I am learning, and I think it’s pretty acceptable to camp out there for awhile….maybe the rest of my life. For when I have reached perfection, what more is there to do?

Can you tell me the link to where Michelle teaches how to apply textures? I’m not finding it. Thanks.
